The FDNY Honor Guard was a special, private moment at Ground Zero
in which firefighters would carry their fallen brothers from the WTC site
to an awaiting Chaplain who would say prayer. The whole WTC site would
shut down during these ceremonies and not a word was spoken. Ground
Zero would fall completely silent except for the Chaplain’s words, which were
broadcast over everyone’s Motorola walkie-talkies. In this image, an entire
FDNY Firehouse holds one of their recovered members, draped in an American
Flag, while a Chaplain says prayer. Now, after 14 years, this extremely rare image
is brought to you in the form of a special collector’s T-Shirt with the goal of remembering
both the fallen and those who struggled to locate them.
